Who We Are
The main and most important thing about us is that we are farmers.
As farmers dedicated to our work, who have achieved a pistachio of recognized prestige with our good work and daily effort, we have created SPAIN’S PISTACHIO GROWERS in order to control the quality of our pistachio and the entire process that it goes through from our trees to your table.
SPAIN’S PISTACHIO GROWERS is part of the pistachio growing, production, processing and marketing structure of ASPPA, the Association of Pistachio Producers of Albacete.
In this way, we process and market our own pistachio, which comes from more than 2,000 hectares of organic plantations, or in the process of conversion some of them.
Our History
With a deep-rooted passion for the land and respect for nature, at SPAIN’S PISTACHIO GROWERS we have built a history of success in the grow and processing of organic pistachio. With young plantations and some others which are which are over two decades old, our company has grown thanks to dedication, accurateness, quality, enthusiasm for the well done job and sustainability.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide organic pistachios of the highest quality. We strive to combine tradition with innovation, taking care of every detail of the process to offer tasty and nutritious pistachios, while respecting the environment and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Where we Are
We are from Castilla-La Mancha.
Most of our plantations are in the province of Albacete, although we are expanding to neighboring provinces such as Cuenca and Ciudad Real.
The orography and climate of our region is ideal for growing pistachios, which is why Castilla-La Mancha is the region with the highest pistachio production in Europe and where almost 80% of Spain’s plantations are concentrated.
Facilities
To date we have two pistachio processing plants located in the province of Albacete (Montalvos and Barrax).
Given the continuous growth of our structure, not only geographically due to the incorporation of new crops, but also because of a continuous production increase coming from young crops starting to be productive every year, we already have new processing plants planned in different locations in our region to optimize the quality of our product through close processing and adapted to the expected needs of each harvest.
Our processing plants are equipped with state of the art technology in the pistachio industry, they are certified as organic processing plants and are in the process of obtaining IFS and BRC certifications.
Quality
Instead of being focused on huge productivity rates per hectare, we are committed to quality, obtaining a flavor, aroma and color that are truly differentiating and identifying characteristics of the SPAIN’S PISTACHIO GROWERS pistachio.
It is well known that crops with excessive irrigation to obtain higher production result in pistachios with little flavor, less color and lower quality. Furthermore, water in excess causes a greater number of diseases that attack the tree, which must be stopped with treatments that are incompatible in many cases with organic production.
In our case, organic cultivation, together with the climate and richness of the lands of our region, plus plantations based mostly on rainfed exploitation or deficit irrigation, resulting in rich in nutrients a pistachio, with a very intense flavor and color and therefore highly appreciated, and increasingly in demand, in the main European markets both for snack and for the processing industry (ice creams, spreads, etc.).
Although our pistachio, like all of them, can be roasted and salted, we encourage you to try it in its natural, original state, that is, not roasted nor salted, which is how we offer it, and you will enjoy the authentic flavor, scent, and texture of premium quality organic pistachio. Only when it comes to low quality pistachio is it necessary to roast and salt it, to provide it with some kind of flavor.
Product
We offer mostly organic pistachio. We also have conventional pistachio, which is pistachio in the process of being converted to organic, but that has not yet obtained the organic certificate.
Our pistachio surprises with the intensity of its color, flavor and aroma. It is not roasted or salted to preserve its natural characteristics.
As for varieties, we have Kerman, Sirora, Larnaka, Golden Hills and Lost Hills.
We offer pistachio in shell, in sizes 18-20, 20-22 and 23-25, and kernels.
We wholesale in MAP aluminum big bags.
Commitment
COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
SPAIN’S PÌSTACHIO GROWERS is deeply committed to the environment. Not only is the future of our planet compromised if the environment is not taken care of, but also to have quality organic agriculture it is necessary to care for and preserve the natural environment.
We practice and promote natural and ecological agriculture, avoiding the use of pesticides or herbicides that contaminate the natural environment and damage the ecosystem.
We reduce the use of water. Water today, especially in Spain, is a scarce commodity. Our plantations are mostly rainfed or deficit irrigated.
We are committed to local processing. With the implementation of a network of pistachio reception, peeling and drying plants, we bring the processing closer to the farmer with the resource savings that this entails.
COMMITMENT TO THE RURAL COMMUNITY
The setting-up of our network of pistachio reception and processing plants, and its expansion throughout our region, helps maintaining the population in rural areas at risk of depopulation, generating wealth with the creation of direct and indirect jobs due to the development of industry and auxiliary services.
Our work model allows the incorporation of small farmers into our structure, with plantations treated and managed in a traditional way and producing really good quality pistachio, who in this way see their interests protected and can continue growing their small crops.
ETHICAL AND LABOR FORCE COMMITMENT
We consider it basic and fundamental to have a quality work environment in which our team can perform their duties with respect, in harmony and safely. Without a doubt, this philosophy provides quality of life to our entire team and top-quality service to our clients.
Present and Future
That idea that emerged in 2020 as the future project of a small group of farmers who were looking for a way to enhance their product, without depending on intermediaries or third parties, has become a reality.
SPANISH PISTACHIO PRODUCERS have brought the name of Albacete to the map of global pistachio production, and it is a benchmark in the main European organic nut markets.
Little by little we are growing to achieve our goal of reaching 3,000 hectares of organic pistachio, which will allow us to lead the world supply of organic pistachio.
